Palotás 2002 Info Sheet

§      Practices are being held once a week, on Sundays, from 6pm to 8pm, commencing on November 18th, 2001 at the Hungarian-Canadian Cultural Center in the ‘Mozi terem’.

§    The 45th Helicon Ball is being held at the Toronto Hilton Hotel, on Saturday, February 9th, 2002.

§    The price of the tickets for Palotás Dancers, will be announced at the rehearsals, please see Tom Gauder for more information.

v  It is imperative that the group rehearse together as much as possible.  For this reason, it is recommended that you do not miss more than 2 practices.  If you are going to miss a practice, please contact Tom Gauder or Erica Lovrics.

§ For each rehearsal, dancers are required to have proper shoes (as similar to the ones you will be wearing on the day of the ball as possible) and girls are required to have long full skirts, or their “alsó’s”.

§    All dancers are responsible for their own costumes.  If you do not have one, please read the attached information to assist you in designing your own.  The Palotás dance group, and/or the Helicon Society will not undertake responsibility to provide one for you, or for any costumes that are borrowed. However, we will be happy to help if you have any questions.

Lady's costume: “Diszmagyar” dress, “alsó-szoknya”, “párta”, white elbow-length gloves, white panty hose, with no pattern, white satin, or leather, closed-toe pump shoes.

Gentleman's costume:  Black dress pants, preferably tuxedo pants, white button dress shirt, “Bocskai” jacket, “Bocskai” tie, white wrist-length gloves, black dress socks, black lace dress shoes, with leather soles.
